The role of polar region in global climate change and human sustainable development has become an increasing source of concern in recent years. In the 21st century, polar environments and ecology are facing severe threats as a consequence of global climate change, the overexploitation of polar resources, and the rapid growth in tourism. Governments, research institutions, media and international environmental protection organizations around the world have made great efforts to address this, but there is still a long way to go. Among the difficulties are national differences in economic development, culture and geopolitical ambitions. Governments and civil society both need to find more effective ways to protect polar environments. Driven by this need, the IPPA aims to break through national boundaries by building a communication platform for all those who are committed to polar affairs worldwide.
